It's been an interesting couple of weeks since we launched our Free version of BlueTie. Last Sunday Techcrunch covered us and we got a couple of popular Diggs. We were deluged with sign-ups and had a few problems, all of which we addressed as quickly as possible. The comment stream on Techcrunch became a real time forum that day with a lot of fair critical input from readers, commentary from BlueTie people and the usual axegrinders who never include any contact info. All in all it was exciting to see the degree of interest and the thoughtfulness of the commenters.
One mistep we made was limiting signups to US locations. This was a technical decision on our part which we rapidly decided was an error- the web is very much an international network. We'll be enabling international sign-ups later next week.
The blog world's impact on a launch like ours is covered in his usual apt way by Scoble in this post. The fact that coverage on his blog drew 10x over USA Today for one story is very interesting (and probably bad news for print).
